  Exporting notes  Contents

Step 1 - Choose export target

At first you should choose the export target. My Notes Center can export your notes to single file, combining the notes content into one large text, to multiple files, saving them to one folder or recreating the folder structure on disk by tree structure, and to tree-structured file in .MNC native format or other structured formats provided by plugins.

You may choose recurse second level sub-notes to export all sub-notes of chosen note (or the entire notes of notebook, if it is chosen in tree), otherwise only the selected note and its first-level sub-notes will be exported.

To be more specific you may check to specify on next step exactly which notes are to be exported. The Step 1.1 page will show you the tree with the exporting notes and the note preview window with ability to zoom the note contents to 75% of original.

The checkboxes in tree mark the notes that will be exported. You may check/uncheck the note and all its sub-notes by holding Ctrl or Shift while clicking the checkbox.

Step 2 - Set exporting format and options

If you choose to export to single file on step 2 you'll be able to choose the format of the exporting text. The formatted text will keep all notes formatting in the resulting file, while the plain text will destroy all text formatting leaving only the notes text itself.

Check specify on next step some additional export options if you want to change the options specific to HTML and Plain text exporting.

If you choose to export to multiple files on step 2 you'll be able to choose how to save files to disk: all to one folder naming them 'Note - Sub-note - Subsub-note - ...' or create the folder structure as the notes are placed in tree. The notes tree may contain the notes with the same name, but the files in one folder cannot. So you may choose to constatly overwrite the notes with the same name and the last note with duplicating name will remain, or to add an increasing number after each duplicated note.

The note name may contain any characters, but filenames have a restricted set of possible characters. My Notes Center can replace the wrong characters with '_' or simply skip them if the option is not checked.

Check specify on next step some additional export options if you want to change the options specific to HTML and Plain text exporting.

The Step 2.1 page will show you these additional options. From there you may choose the default font name and size that will be saved as <BODY> tag font in CSS-style. The page title will be saved in HTML <TITLE>...</TITLE> tag.

My Notes Center can export pictures from notes and save it in PNG format, placing into folder named compatible with Windows Explorer. Also due to HTML doesn't support tabs you may check to convert tabs to non-breaking spaces. The default HTML page background will be white until you check the use default note background as page background. Default note background color may be set in options dialog.

If you're exporting the notes to plain text format, you may tell My Notes Center to format paragraphs by inserting line-breaks.

Step 3 - Set export options

When exporting to single file you may choose how to separate note contents: by nothing, by hard page break (not actually displayed by editor, but affects printing) or by custom separator line which may be entered in the edit box below or chosen from the drop-down list. Also it is possible to choose the separator font and align (center or left by default).

My Notes Center can insert the specified text before and after each exported note. You may enter a special macros in this text that will be substituted according to macro meaning. As for custom separator you may choose the font and align for the inserted text.

Step 4 - Choose export format

This is the final step of notes exporting. The list of possible export targets is displayed at the left pane.

For single file exporting you may choose to save the text to RTF, Plain text (TXT), or HTML file, put the text to clipboard, create a new note in current or new notebook and put the text into that note or to save the text using installed MS Office Text Converters. The right pane shows you the preview of the text combined from exported notes.

When exporting to multiple files you may choose the format for the exported files, it can be RTF, Plain Text (TXT) or HTML, MS Office Text Converters may be used as well.

The right pane contains the box for choosing the folder where to store the exported files.

When exporting to tree-structured file (MNC-file), you may choose to compress or encrypt the exported notebook and enter its named in the box Notebook filename.
