Common options

• Minimize on close - minimize main window instead of closing it when pressing [X] button;
• Minimize to Tray - hide program button from Taskbar and place it to System tray as small icon (that looks like a piece of yellow paper);
• Stealth on minimize - enter stealth mode when minimized;
• Force away mode when going to stealth mode - enter away mode when entering stealth mode;
• Auto-minimize when program started - minimize main window at startup (useful with next option);
• Minimize main window by pressing ESC-key - useful option, when checked, you can quickly minimize main window by pressing ESC key;
• Enable hot-key to minimize/restore main window - allows to specify system hot-key (works anywhere) to activate My Notes Center main window from minimized state. Check "+ Win" option if you want to add "Win" key to a hotkey combination;
• Associate .MNC files with My Notes Center - check this option (recommended) if you want to open any .MNC-file from Explorer window by clicking on it;
• Economy memory usage - this option tells My Notes Center to use less system memory when mininized by releasing unused memory blocks with notes that weren't changed since last save, dialogs and other things.

Startup and exit

• Autorun with Windows - automatically starts My Notes Center at Windows startup;
• Auto-minimize at startup - this option tells My Notes Center to minimize its window at startup;
• Load all previously opened notebooks when program started - when checked program saves list of all opened notebooks when closed and loads all of them at next start;
• Show Tip Of The Day at startup - shows "Tip of the day" window at program start;
• Autosave notebook on exit - My Notes Center will automatically save changes in opened notebook on exit and will not ask you to 'Save changes?'. If you don't want to save changes, hold Shift key while closing My Notes Center.

Opening and saving

• Save all unsaved notebooks when main window minimized - automatically saves all (except newly created) notebooks when main window minimized;
• Pack notebook on close - use Pack notebook feature when program closes. This will remove all obsolete fragments from your notebooks and remove data 'holes';
• Make backup when packing notebook - this option will prevent your notebooks from casual crash (when Windows crashes, for example). When enabled - program will make a backup before packing notebook file and it will stop packing if backup failed;
• Pack after save when wasted space becomes 30% of notebook size - when checked, MNC will automatically pack notebook after save if wasted space in notebook file exceeds 30% of file size;
• Backup path - specify a path used to quickly backup current notebook via File-Export-Backup;
• Default path for saving notebooks - specify initial folder that will be opened in Save as... dialog;

Tree

• Tree could be undocked - check this option to make tree like a Clipboard Viewer - a tool window that could be moved, undocked and docked to any other main window edge;
• Show branch dot-lines in tree - this option makes the dot-lines visible;
• Auto-collapse inactive notebooks - automatically collapse all notebooks except the current one;
• Also collapse all inactive branches - automatically collapse all opened branches (notes and its subnotes) except the current one. This option works only if the above is checked;
• Tree background - choose the background color for notes tree;
• Tree font - specify a base font in tree (font name, size and charset, other is customizable through notes);

Editor

• Wrap long lines by window edge - enabled the text wrapping. Note, the wrappers position differs in editor and in print preview window;
• Select entire word using mouse - works when you selecting the text by mouse and forces the editor to select the entire word, not the part of it;
• Auto-highlight any URLs in text - automatically highlight and allow to open the URLs (like http://www.somesite.com or mailto:somebody@somewhere.com);
• Apply styles to words without selecting them - this is how MS Word™ works. Just place the caret to the word and apply any font style or color without selecting the word;
• Make editor active when mouse pointer walks over it - self-explained option;
• Use Tab-key to jump to notes tree, Ctrl+Tab to insert tabulation - this reverses the default behavior. If you jump to tree more often than inserting Tabs, you may be should check this option;
• Plain text font - specify the font which will be used to display plain-text notes;

Additional editor

• Use fonts for drawing font drop-down list items - simply this means all of the fonts except symbolic in font selection combobox (on Format toolbar) will represent themselves. This is how MS Word™ works;
• Disable non-TrueType fonts - exclude non TrueType fonts (mainly raster fonts like MS Sans Serif or Terminal) from font selection combobox;
• Handling URL clicks - allows to customize the way MNC handles double clicks and clicks with Ctrl on the URLs. You may choose to Open URL, copy it to clipboard or show the popup menu with all these actions;
• Select the URL text on right-click - automatically select the URL text when right-clicking on it by mouse. Works only if nothing else is selected in editor;
• Date and time formats - in these text boxes you can customize the format of the date and time that could be inserted via Insert|Date, Insert|Time or Insert|Date and time in main menu.
• Use system-default format - force MNC to use your system-default format that could be set up via Control Panel - Regional Settings.

Confirmations

• Ask about saving currently unsaved notebooks on exit
• Confirm deleting note without children
• Confirm notebook compression
• Confirm notebook encryption using password
• Ask before hiding My Notes Center from taskbar (going to Stealth mode)
• Show warning if no printer driver installed in system
• Show warning if MS RichEdit 3.0 library is not available

Separator

Here you can customize the text separators format and its font. Text separator can be inserted via menu Insert|Separator.

Clipboard & collector

• Do not show clipboard content if its size exceeds... - if the size of clipboard data to be displayed (text or image) exceeds specified size, it will not be shown to speed up MNC's interface and to eat less system memory;
• Reverse text drag'n'drop behavour - if checked - the drag'n'dropped text will be copied from source and placed to text collector and will be moved if Ctrl is pressed;
• Catch URLs from clipboard and insert to collector - if checked, MNC will search for URLs in clipboard when its content is changed and add the URL to text collector. if Insert before text in collector option is checked, the URLs will be inserted at the top, otherwise they'll be inserted after text in collector;
• Transparent text collector when floating - this option is available only in Windows 2000 or XP and allows to make text collector window transparent when floating;
• Background color - allows to choose text collector background color;
