Note |
The basic unit of data. Each Note has a title and text (as well as other properties). |
Notebook |
A file containing notes. Root items in tree are notebooks itself. Its sub items are notes. |
Child or subnote |
A Note may have one or more subordinate notes, called Child Notes. Child Notes can themselves have Child Notes, and so on to generate the hierarchical structure. |
Hotkey |
A keyboard key or set of keys which invoke an action. For example, "F1" is the F1 key on the upper-left of the keyboard; "Ctrl+C" means press the key marked Ctrl (or Control) and at the same time press the C key; and "Shift+Ctrl+P" means press the Shift, Control and P keys simultaneously. |
Stealth mode |
Switching to this mode means My Notes Center hides from taskbar and system tray. It becomes invisible in other words. Nobody will know that My Notes Center is running on the computer. It is possible to restore MNC from Stealth mode by pressing the Hotkey which is set in Common options, or by starting My Notes Center again. |
Away mode |
By switching to this mode you are telling MNC to "Forget all passwords!". All protected notebooks that are currently opened will be collapsed in tree. And when you need to access them again you'll be asked for password. |
Packing the notebook |
The process of removing holes and obsolete fragments from notebook file. These holes are formed when you are deleting large amounts of text from notes or deleting notes completely. |
Compressing the notebook |
Compressing means reducing note size by using a special math algorithm, like famous WinZIP do. |
Encrypting the notebook |
Closing the unauthorized access to the notebook with password. Your passwords will be used to encrypt the notes with strong Blowfish crypto-algorithm. |
Notes tree |
Basically, it is a pane on the left side of My Notes Center window. All your notes are shown in this pane. See Understanding tree structure for more details. |
